Summer Camp 2010 Schedule
Earthways, Earthdays
June 14-25

We will spend this session exploring the world around us. We will create nature crafts and explore seasonal activities to enhance the children’s awareness of the environment. The children will play with elements of the earth, air and water.

Wild and Wacky Art
June 28-July 9

This session we will learn about different great masters who choose to express themselves in unusual ways. We will create a one line sculpture in the style of Klee. We will be inspired by Mondrian who wanted to create pictures to express his thoughts and feelings created entirely with straight lines and simple colors. We will learn and create in the style of “fauvism” (which means “wild beast” in French), just as Matisse did long ago.
*Note: we will be closed on July 5 in observance of Independence Day

Shake, Rattle, and Roll
July 12-23

This session we will get our creative juices flowing with music and movement activities. We will learn new songs and dances. We will play rhythms our our steel drum, giant xylophone and other rhythm instruments, including our bodies. Hopewell will come alive with the sound of music.

The topics we focus on in each session are a part of the daily life of a Montessori classroom. We are choosing to highlight them individually during our summer camp. The other materials that are a traditional part of a Montessori class will also be available to your child to learn and explore during the time they spend with us this summer.
