Toddler Program FAQs

Who Provides Food?

Each child should bring food from home for their snacks and meals while they are at school. The students do sometimes prepare snack, such as fruit or baked goods, but to ensure that your child will have a selection of food that he is sure to enjoy, we ask that you provide food. A refrigerator, microwave, and storage for bulk supplies are available.

Who Provides Diapering Supplies?

We ask that parents provide diapers, wipes, and any ointments from home. Each child has storage space of their own for storing these items so they can be brought in bulk, rather than daily.

How do you communicate with parents?

Parent communication is always a focus for us, but it is especially important before children are verbal. We will hold formal conferences throughout the year, but encourage daily communication between the parent and teacher. We strive to keep a consistent environment between home and school.

What is the student:teacher ratio?

We follow state guidelines regarding for the youngest child in our class, no more than a 6:1 ratio. We are constantly evaluating the makeup of the students in the class and maintaining a balance that allows the teacher to give her full attention to the students, hence we often choose to have a lower student:teacher ratio.

How do the children nap?

We provide either a small cot or crib for your child, as well as their own bedding, which we launder weekly. If she has a special blanket or snuggly, those are welcome as well. All children participate in a nap time after lunch, with a dark, cool environment and quiet music, we find that they are able to sleep well. If you have a different nap schedule request, we will accommodate your child’s schedule to provide as much continuity from home to school as possible.
