A non-refundable $50 deposit is required for non-Hopewell students for each session with application; the balance is due on the first day of each session. Students currently enrolled at Hopewell do not need to pay a desposit, but must return the registration form. The total camp fee is due on the first day of camp. A 10% discount is offered if registering for all three camp sessions, with equal payments of balance due on June 1 and July 1. Please return this Summer Camp Registration Form with your deposit as soon as possible to hold your space in camp!

Summer Camp 2010 Schedule

Earthways, Earthdays
June 14-25

We will spend this session exploring the world around us. We will create nature crafts and explore seasonal activities to enhance the children’s awareness of the environment. The children will play with elements of the earth, air and water.

Wild and Wacky Art
June 28-July 9

This session we will learn about different great masters who choose to express themselves in unusual ways. We will create a one line sculpture in the style of Klee. We will be inspired by Mondrian who wanted to create pictures to express his thoughts and feelings created entirely with straight lines and simple colors. We will learn and create in the style of “fauvism” (which means “wild beast” in French), just as Matisse did long ago.
*Note: we will be closed on July 5 in observance of Independence Day

Shake, Rattle, and Roll
July 12-23

This session we will get our creative juices flowing with music and movement activities. We will learn new songs and dances. We will play rhythms our our steel drum, giant xylophone and other rhythm instruments, including our bodies. Hopewell will come alive with the sound of music.

The topics we focus on in each session are a part of the daily life of a Montessori classroom. We are choosing to highlight them individually during our summer camp. The other materials that are a traditional part of a Montessori class will also be available to your child to learn and explore during the time they spend with us this summer.

Join us Saturday, February 27th, 10:00 - 11:30 AM for the Peace Celebration. Each child has chosen a country in to represent and we are asking parents to bring food from around the world. If you have a favorite recipe that comes to mind or if you would like to look one up that represents the country your child has chosen, we would be delighted to have your dish be part of our celebration. Feel free to bring artifacts to display on our tables from any travels you have taken.

Friends, family and neighbors are welcome to join us for this special celebration.

Note: Your child was sent home with a note listing which country he or she has chosen. If you have not received a note from school, please follow up with Laura.
